Your writing is hilarious. It's a beautiful pick-me-up, even when it's about life trying to grind you down - but of course you rose above it :-) Sensible brain for the win. (PS - I 100% agree that Mix-A-Lot song is... trash. No matter how catchy it is.)
Just what I needed to read to get my Substack brain in the mood
I happen to think the real hero here is 'Sensible Brain', swooping in to save the day with yoga nidra and a cold tub instead of the sugar and outrage spiral. I started trying to eat healthy again a few weeks back. The struggle is real.
Here is this week's comment on your sort-of-poor me moan with mutliple scene changes: You obviously need an emotional support chicken to help you overcome those sugar craves and buyerless remorse. Warning, however. Emotional support chickens should never be shoved into an airfryer because they will explode cotton all over your porridge.
Love that Linda... made me smile 😃 wide! I think a support chicken would be excellent bit agree it would not to stay away from the fryer that works on air. Take care Linda
The dialogue between your 'silly brain' and 'sensible brain' was spot on! We all have those internal battles, don't we? It's so easy to give in to the quick fixes and instant gratification, but as you pointed out, the consequences often leave us feeling worse. It takes courage and self-awareness to choose the healthier path, even when it's not the most appealing option in the moment. Your honesty about your struggles is refreshing and inspiring.
I’m sure the silicone air fryer trays would’ve ended up in the same graveyard as the unworn tshirts and the unused sports tack.
Seems to ocean water responded to your call to beat yourself up for bad choices and salt water cleanse you to make better choices.
Now I wanna go get a Sunday paper just for the crossword puzzle and the feel of ball point pen on newsprint.
Your stories are so simple, lessons so clear. But most of all, I love your voice. Your writing makes me giggle every week. I’m so glad I can call you friend.
I enjoy hearing about the inner dialogue you have going on, and how you find ways forward to see yourself more clearly. By the way, we love our air fryer.
I laughed 😃 🤩 i also had some chocolate 🍫 and some more, yesterday after being hit by covid and very low on energy! I love how you make it sound funny,i can’t write like that:)
Glad to here it - take good care Neela
It's not easy allowing sensible brain to win from silly brain, well done you 😁
Always hard but worth it when it works
